There is a lot of confusion when it comes to travelling abroad with your Seascooter units. Luckily, we have sold plenty of Seascooters over the years and have received a lot of feedback how our customers have found travelling with them. I hope this article provides some clarity on a somewhat cloudy situation.
Firstly, anything with lead-acid batteries in is not allowed, we have had multiple stories from our customers having their batteries taken off them from airport security. Now while these batteries are significantly cheaper than the lithium-ion variants, it will be quite a big inconvenience to have to source a new one out wherever you take it (We will note if you find yourself in this scenario get in touch with us as we are well networked with other distributors around the world).
So, when it comes to batteries abroad it must be the Lithium-Ion variant, and the golden rule we have worked to here is under 168Wh in capacity will be allowed to take in your hand luggage only. Do not pack this in your cargo hold luggage as they will remove this from your luggage after scanning, which when your average price for one of these batteries is over £400 it’s a mistake to be aware of! Important note that you can put your actual unit without the battery inside in either your hand luggage or cargo luggage, it is only the battery you must put in your hand luggage.
Now we always recommend checking with your airline prior to flying with your Seascooter to make sure you can take them with you, we have had a couple customers come back to us with further queries from the airline, which 90% of the time seems to be confusion from the airline to what the product is or what purpose it has. We supply on request certificates to provide to airlines to prove the capacity and usage of the products.
Now why would you want to take a Seascooter abroad? Well in my case I was lucky enough to have a nice family holiday in Marbella and at the resort we were staying at there was a pool available to use, so I thought what a great opportunity to bring it along and have a bit of fun in the water, well it was a huge hit with my family and friends, I only wished I had brought an extra battery out with me to give more time in the pool, but as I took the Robosea Seaflyer the charge time was only about 3 hours so I could get down later on and have another go!
We have had many other cases where our customers are headed to places like The Maldives or The Bahamas and just want to try out their Seascooter with the family in clear warm waters where they can do some snorkelling, free diving or just having a bit of fun in the water!
I have also seen customers who are going on diving holidays bring one along for a bit of fun or to see how it adds to the experience, which I have been told its worth doing!

Nautica J-Class – Having the foldable arms on this makes storage in a bag very easy.
Robosea Seaflyer – The most popular of the travel series we sell, compact, fun & fast! Also coming in multiple colours is always a plus.
Robosea Warp-10 – A great addition to spice things up in our lineup, offering the fastest speed in the range at 5.3mph, 3 gears & 30m depth ratings. This is the most compact Seascooter we sell with the handles folding into the “egg” that it is. No taller than an A4 piece of paper.
